Team BC Work Day at Lock 4
Date:
Mon, 2012-01-16 22:20
Sunday Morning June 15th, Team Bikers Choice took on the task of trying to make the West Loop a safer dryer trail. Crew Leaders David Hardin and Craig Evans laid out a plan to build over a hundred feet of decking to cover the most severe wet areas of the West Side Trails at Lock 4. With over $700 dollars of donated material from Team BC and 19 volunteers the project was successfully completed in an 7 hour work day.

One part of the plan for keeping the trail dry and making it safe, was to cut back the privot. This allow the sun to come in and dry the trails, allows for more visibility, and cuts back on the spider webs.

The Second part was to take the Mud/Gravel corner at the end of Trail 2 and move the line over and build a bridge over the stream. The work involved diverting water flow, and building a 35 long banked bridge with chicken wire on top.

We ended up with roughly 120 feet of bridge some of the more muddy parts of the West Side Trail . A total of 108 work hours were accumalated at the trail that day, Probably a record one day turn out. Big thanks fto Team BC for their efforts and financial donations, We also would like to thank Sorba for cutting the telephone poles in half that we used, Michael Edens from www.TBRA.org for bringing his 4 wheeler out to single handily drag 110 of telelphone pole, Optimum Endurance Tri Club for bringing out some volunteers, Vol State Bank , Swiftwick, Infinit Nutrition and Specialized for sponsoring our team, and also a thanks to the customers of Bikers Choice for giving us enough business that we can afford to donate to causes such as this.
Great Day!
David Hardin
