Trek is Recalling All Satellite City Pedals
Trek has issued a recall on pedals for hybrids and comfort bicycles that are the 2020 model. To date, our store has not seen any pedals come off due to improper installation. We have seen one set of pedals come loose internally and slide off the spindle. This does result in a sharp rod sticking out of the crank arm and can come in contact with your calf. This could also result in a loss of control of your bicycle. Please see the steps below to set up a claim and replace the pedals.
Any Trek bicycle equipped with Bontrager Satellite City pedals and all Bontrager Satellite City pedals sold as an aftermarket product (SKU 559709) are affected. As indicated in Figure 2, the affected pedals have “ZTR02”molded onto the axle side of each pedal body. Trek kids’ platform pedals are not affected. If you are unsure if your bicycle has the pedals, please call either store or bring your bicycle in for an inspection.
What To Do If You Have an Affected Model
Step 1: Call the Store
Please notify us that you need replacement pedals. Replacement pedals and install fee will be provided free of charge. In addition to the replacement pedals, you will be provided a $20.00 coupon to use on any Trek or Bontrager product at the time of pick up. Turn around time can take up to 5 business days, depending on pedal availability.
Email Us a Picture of Your Serial Number on your Pedals
In order for Trek to ship replacement pedals and accept the claim, we will need an image of your pedals with the serial number in the picture. Please send all images to email@example.com with the email title: PEDAL RECALL - (Customer Last Name, First Name). We will contact you when the new pedals have been installed and your bicycle is ready for pick up. We understand it would be more efficient if we had the pedals in stock for all affected customers. However, due to the inventory shortages in today’s marketplace, Trek is keeping a close tab on their inventory as to make sure they can take care of all affected pedals.
